17 luxury apartments in Canford Cliffs on behalf of PegausLife, a retirement living provider on a mission to fundamentally rethink retirement living in the UK.
This is a high quality retirement living scheme located on a prominent corner site in the Canford Cliffs area of Bournemouth. The scheme provides 17 luxury apartments and has a basement carpark with lift access. The project is located in the salubrious neighbourhood of Canford Cliffs, Poole and set amongst mature pines, within walking distance of the beach. Snug was retained through RIBA stages 1-6 and the project was shortlisted for a RIBA Regional Award.
Design Philosophy
The project responds creatively to the prominent corner site and its setting amongst mature trees. A three-storey brick base works well with the prevailing scale of buildings in the area, faceting to open views. Rising through this is an undulating secondary layer that rises to four floors and breaks the skyline. This is clad in white burnt larch and responds to the scale of the trees. Between these layers the interstitial spaces form generous balconies. Large framed picture windows define the corners, celebrating views to the trees and sea.
